La Galleria UPP è lieta di ospitare #painting. about, around & within, collettiva che raccoglie il lavoro di Johanna Binder, Manuele Cerutti, Matteo Fato, Tiziano Martini, Jochen Mühlenbrink, Valerio Nicolai, Andreas Plum, alcuni dei più interessanti giovani artisti attivi sulla scena europea. Il progetto, curato da Daniele Capra, affronta il tema dell’origine della pittura attraverso le possibilità di raccontarsi che essa stessa possiede. La mostra è così occasione per mettere a confronto differenti approcci alla pratica pittura ed indagare la sua natura polimorfica.
Non c’è niente di più amato ed odiato della pittura, ed è essenziale non prestare orecchio a tale insanabile dicotomia che ha alimentato fiumi di inchiostro. Se è infatti amata perché elemento che agisce in continuità e rottura con la tradizione, vivendo grazie alle continue fioriture dai rami di un albero millenario le cui fronde non somigliano in nulla al fusto, essa è anche disciplina trattata con malcelato disprezzo, a tal punto da essere considerata un episodio ormai chiuso, infertile e che si è stanchi di (ri)vedere.
Fortunatamente la pittura però, in maniera inequivocabile, è, esiste, anche se noi non la vediamo. #painting. about, around & within ne discute le ragioni ontologiche, a partire dalla capacità che essa ha di raccontarsi, di farsi meta-narrazione, di spiegare ed argomentare le ragioni – intime, ideali ed espressive – della propria esistenza, nelle sue continue evoluzioni.
Il progetto nasce dalla necessità di fornire delle possibilità interpretative polifoniche, che testimoniano le sfide che essa stessa rilancia, poiché microcosmo che non manca di niente, comprese le ragioni stesse del suo esistere. #painting. about, around & within sarà così un’opportunità per discutere differenti approcci meta-pittorici dagli esiti del tutto inattesi. La mostra sarà corredata da una pubblicazione con le immagini delle opere e i testi del curatore.

galleria UPP is proud to present #painting. about, around & within, a group show bringing together some of the most interesting young artist in Europe today: Johanna Binder, Manuele Cerutti, Matteo Fato, Tiziano Martini, Jochen Mühlenbrink, Valerio Nicolai and Andreas Plum. The show, curated by Daniele Capra, seeks to explore the origins of painting through its ability to speak about itself. It offers an opportunity to compare different approaches to painting and investigate its polymorphic nature.
Nothing evokes more love and hatred than painting, yet it is vitally important to ignore this irresolvable dichotomy, which has already filled endless pages. Painting is loved because it always operates by both continuing and breaking with tradition. It thrives through the constant flourishing of branches from an age-old tree, whose leaves no longer resemble the trunk in any way. It is also a discipline which is treated with barely disguised distain, as if it was an episode which was definitively finished, infertile and which one is tired of (re-) examining.
Fortunately, however, painting does unequivocally and quite definitely exist, even if we don’t see it. #painting. about, around & within explores the ontological basis of painting through its ability to speak about itself, to become a meta-narrative and to explain and defend its intimate, ideal and expressive reasons for existence throughout its constant evolution.
The project originates from the need to offer a polyphony of possible interpretations, which outline the challenges that painting itself is making. Indeed it is a microcosm which doesn’t want for anything, including the very reasons for its own existence. #painting. about, around & within will thus offer an opportunity to discuss different meta-painting approaches, with utterly unexpected results.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with images of the artworks and texts by the curator.
